Surrounded by the affection of her loved ones, friends and neighbors, Aunt Zelinda Carta blew out a whopping one hundred candles yesterday.

The matriarch of the family, a point of reference and an example of life was celebrated with a birthday party where the mayor of Tortolì, Marcello Ladu, and the mayor of Sadali, Barbara Laconi, the town of origin of Mrs. Zelinda, were present. They gave her a commemorative plaque with the best wishes for this beautiful milestone with the best wishes of the two communities. At these words the little old lady did not hide her emotion.

Widow of her beloved husband Francesco Ghiani, she had three children, ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born on June 10, 1925 in Sadali, she then moved to Tortolì in the sixties. She worked hard in the fields and always took care of her family. An exemplary mother and grandmother, a frank and strong woman with an exceptional temperament, she is a good fork .

Zelinda also knew the dark times of war and poverty, when food was not always on the table like today. For her, the secret to a long life is to work and always stay active. If it were up to her, she would continue to do so. Yesterday her family celebrated her as the queen of the house. The photos with her husband just married, in Sardinian dress and those with children, grandchildren and relatives.

Her silver hair gathered in an elegant chignon, a smile for everyone and a face marked by time , as it should be, by her one hundred years, where every wrinkle tells its story. That of a woman who, as her loved ones wrote in a dedication, "has changed the lives of many people around you for the better and you are always a source of inspiration for all of us. One hundred years of love".
