Torrents in flood and waterfalls reborn: rain saves the thirsty Nuorese
The significant disturbance that is hitting Gallura and Baronia causes water to return to the Maccheronis reservoir: 60 millimeters fell in a few hours. The mayor of Siniscola: rationing suspendedVideo di Giorgio Ignazio Onano
Swollen streams, live waterfalls and lots and lots of rain that continues to fall. The Nuorese hopes for an end to the water emergency in the five municipalities supplied by the Maccheronis Dam (Torpè, Posada, Budoni, Siniscola and San Teodoro where restrictions on water supply continue): the basin at the end of October was at 2.5% of its capacity. Empty, in practice.
"It rained yesterday and it seems like it will continue," explains the mayor of Siniscola Gianluigi Farris, " we'll see how long it lasts and what the effects will be on the reservoir, but in the meantime our source of "Fruncu 'e oche" is abundant with drinkable water that, in continuity with last week, will be fed into the network. Therefore," is the announcement, "no rationing until the water flow allows it."
Thanks to the disturbance that continues to affect Sardinia and, in particular, the north-eastern part of the island, in the last few hours a slight increase in the level of the reservoir has been recorded. And a new cyclonic vortex expected in the next few hours could lead to other stormy phenomena that have triggered the ordinary alert (yellow) from Sarrabus to Gallura
In the last 24 hours in the area over 60 millimeters have fallen and the rains are continuing even now. The regional rainfall network of Sardinia Cedoc for the water fallen on the Maccheronis reservoir detects a range between 60 and 100 mm.
Among the watercourses that supply water to the Maccheronis dam are the Concas waterfall, which has regained strength, and the Mannu di Lodè stream which directly feeds the reservoir.
