No civil celebrations will be held in Torre delle Stelle and Solanas on the occasion of the feast of the Madonna del Mare, the Christ of Divers, and Saint Joseph . What happened a week ago in Solanas, with the wounding of a woman, Michela Rubiu, after she was shot by her husband, is truly impossible to forget.

"On Saturday and Sunday," recalls Don Diego Zanda, parish priest of Solanas and Torre delle Stelle, "we will celebrate the 40th edition of the Feast of Our Lady of the Sea and the Christ of Divers." On August 7th, 8th, and 9th, Solanas will instead celebrate the Feast of Saint Joseph. "But in both Torre delle Stelle and Solanas," recalls Don Zanda, "only religious rites, Masses, and the procession will be celebrated. The Archbishop, Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi, will be present at the service on August 9th . Together, with the Festival Committee, we have decided to cancel the civil celebrations: what we are experiencing is truly everyone's pain."

The Municipality of Sinnai has already suspended all events scheduled through last Sunday. No one feels like celebrating.
