Asinara, fishing for urchins in the protected area: three people from Sassari reported

Caught fishing in Cala Sgombro di Dentro , in the fully protected marine area of the Asinara National Park.

Three people from Sassari, aged 54, 53 and 38 respectively, were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office by the carabinieri of the island station for having caught sea urchins and other species of fish, for a total of around 4.5 kilos, in the protected area, where Not only is fishing prohibited but also any activity that could damage the marine environment.

Spotted while they were fishing, the Carabinieri asked for the support of the Turritana Harbor Master's Office which intervened by sea to block the small motorized dinghy with which they had entered the off-limits cove , taking fish and sea urchins whose fishing is prohibited.

All the catch was seized along with all the fishing equipment.

The 3 reported were also sanctioned with a fine which could vary from 2,000 to 12,000 euros, for the detention of sea urchins.
