New step forward in the process of reorganizing the taxi and NCC service in Quartu. After an initial phase to analyze the context and highlight the critical issues of the non-scheduled public transport service in the city, the council has now approved a document that puts out to tender 3 new licenses to ensure that the unmet demand never exceeds 5% of the total. The document also establishes the value of the licenses, around 65-70 thousand euros.
These permits can be issued for a fee as long as the administration allocates 80% of the proceeds in equal parts among all those who, at the time of publication, already have the license. The remaining 20% must be used to improve the infrastructure for carrying out the service.
The procedural process, shared with the Consorzio Taxi Amico (8 license holders) and with the 12 NCCs, is therefore proceeding quickly towards the introduction of the new service regulation, which must be submitted to the Transport Regulatory Authority before final approval by the Municipality, probably by the end of Spring. At the same time, the number of parking spaces will be increased (such as in Piazza 4 Novembre in the city center, Flumini and Capitana in the extra-urban area) and the current parking space map will be revised.
Also being considered is the introduction of fixed rates, in particular for the airport and hospitals, but also agreements with neighboring municipalities, which do not have their own taxi fleet and have shown interest in the proposal. "All these improvement hypotheses have been shared with the operators in the sector, to whom the Administration thanks for having actively collaborated in the analysis of the critical issues and the methods of improving the service", comments the councilor for Mobility and Transport Elisabetta Atzori, "these actions will soon be shared with consumer associations, in compliance with the regulatory dictates, with the certainty that every suggestion will favor the development of the service, to the full advantage of the citizens of our community and tourists".
