A 31-year-old man, resident in Muravera, was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of arson, stalking and extortion against his mother.

The 31-year-old, already known to the police, allegedly set fire to the home of his mother, a 60-year-old woman, located in the center of Muravera. The flames caused serious damage to the building, but thanks to the timely intervention of the Fire Department of the San Vito detachment, the fire was put out before it could spread further, thus avoiding even more dramatic consequences.

The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri have collected elements that reveal that this episode is not an isolated case, but represents the latest in a series of harassment that has allegedly been perpetrated by the man since 2021. According to what has emerged, the 31-year-old allegedly subjected his mother to a continuous climate of terror, through threats and intimidation, causing the woman a serious state of anxiety and fear. The situation allegedly became so unbearable that the victim was forced to change her lifestyle habits, constantly fearing for her safety.

The threats, presumably, from the son would have had a single goal: to extort money from the woman to finance his vices. This long period of suffering reached its climax with the burning of the house, which finally led to the arrest of the man.

The 31-year-old was transferred to the Uta prison, as ordered by the judicial authorities.
