Ten kilos of vegetable products, four kilos of cuttings and two kilos of meat were seized by officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) of Sassari and by the Guardia di Finanza soldiers at Alghero airport .

The ADM officials and the Financiers stopped and subjected to checks two passengers coming from Bangladesh who were carrying in their hold baggage 10 kg of unidentifiable vegetable products of various kinds, some in a poor state of conservation, without labeling certifying their origin, species and related phytosanitary certification.

Against a passenger coming from China, via Rome Fiumicino, they instead proceeded with the precautionary administrative seizure of four kilos of vegetables and cuttings, presumably sugar cane, and two kilos of chicken meat, without packaging and related health certification.

The plants, subjected to administrative seizure, are now kept in customs warehouses in Alghero awaiting hygienic-sanitary analyzes by the phytopathologist and with the aim of combating the introduction of harmful organisms and infesting pathogens into the territory of the European Union for native species.

As regards the seized meat , however, it will be confiscated for disposal .
