The State Police, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Oristano, completed a complex anti-drug operation called "The butcher" . The activity was conducted by the men of the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters: 14 suspects, all residents in the municipality of Oristano, Palmas Arborea and Masullas, and responsible in various capacities for an intense activity of production, detention and dealing of narcotic substances.

Over 80 men are at work between the Oristano Police Headquarters, the Sardinia Crime Prevention Department, the Fenosu Flight Department, the Abbasanta State Police Dog Unit and the Financial Police Dog Unit. The material was collected after numerous stakeouts and shadowing, but also technical activities, thanks to which it was possible to identify the places where the criminal association kept kilos of narcotics to be placed on the Oristano market.

According to what emerged, the group was responsible for cultivating thousands of Indian hemp plants, then processing them and having the product to sell throughout the year. It was the members of the association themselves who made their land and labor available to manage the illegal plantations. We are talking about about a ton of marijuana. A peculiar characteristic of the plants grown by the suspects is the very high active ingredient, i.e. the doping effect, their THC reached peaks of 25.6%.

With the investigation , the entire supply chain of the seized narcotic was reconstructed . The group, the investigators write, had decided to «produce the narcotic independently, almost at zero cost, thus allowing it to be passed off, both at retail and at intermediate levels, at a very competitive price, to enter the market of this territory with a straight leg and , thanks also to the very high quality/toxicity of the product, to monopolize it."
