They admitted their responsibilities when they showed up at the naval operational headquarters of the Alghero Forest Guard: in their words, the unawareness of having fished in a protected marine area.

These are the two bloggers from Rimini who, in recent days during their holiday in Sardinia, have fished groupers in the waters of the protected marine area of Capo Caccia , a fully protected area, and then sell them to a restaurateur from Alghero and boast their deeds with videos posted on social networks. The two were identified and reported by the Forestry Corps and the Alghero Coast Guard.

On Tuesday evening they reached the headquarters of the Forestry accompanied by a parent. They declared that they were mortified for what happened and did not know that an area of integral environmental protection existed in the waters around Capo Caccia.

Their fishing gear has been seized and now they will have to answer before a judge for the crime of violation of Law 394 of 1991 governing the protection of the marine environment.

The Prosecutor's Office is also examining the position of the restaurant owner from Alghero who bought the groupers: if the prosecutor assesses the fishing of specimens in the protected marine area as theft, a complaint for receiving stolen goods would be triggered for the restaurant owner, otherwise an administrative penalty relating to the failure traceability of the catch.

"Poaching causes unacceptable environmental damage to the biological heritage of the protected marine area - says the commander of the Provincial Forestry Corps, Giancarlo Muntoni - That of the two bloggers is an act that has received unanimous condemnation from the world of social media, but the trials are held in the courtrooms and all those comments that know of more or less veiled threats against the two boys must be rejected ”.
