Flowers, vases and even funerary furnishings disappear: thefts are the order of the day at the monumental cemetery of Sassari. Lamps have also become targets of thieves and someone, in the past, has even targeted the photos of the dead and copper objects, facts that are repeated every day, increasingly frequent episodes reported to the police.

The latest report comes from Alessandro, a young man who wanted to leave a clear message to the criminals on his grandmother's tombstone: "To you, who have stolen twice from this tomb, know that my grandmother has been a woman all her life of sound principles, loving and respecting every person in this world ”. A note written on a sheet of paper pointed at the marble plaque to underline that: “The person who writes to you is his nephew Alessandro - we read in the written message - who in front of all this does not live with the same ideals. Trees also have eyes. Good luck". A warning to thieves who take advantage of the scarce surveillance of the monumental cemetery built in 1837, for an affront suffered for the second time. A monumental area of 16 hectares where objects are often stolen which, despite having little economic value, retain a great emotional value. For some, a sacrilege committed in the tombs, all private and bound by the Superintendency. Some have in fact lost their owners over the years and are maintenance-free.
