The Sassari Local Health Authority (ASL) unanimously approved the 2024 financial statement . This was recently expressed in the Angioy Hall of the Metropolitan City by the Northwest Sardinia Regional Health and Social Care Conference.

The company's general manager, Antonio Lorenzo Spano, highlighted the 9% increase in production value, from €664 million in 2023 to €723 million in 2024. Costs also increased, from €667 million in 2023 to €733 million in 2024, with a particularly strong increase in personnel costs, which rose from €131 million to €144 million. "This increase in personnel spending," Spano explained, "is primarily due to two factors: the increase in resources within our facilities, which led us to increase from 2,365 employees in 2023 to 2,491 as of December 31, 2024, a figure that further improved this year, when we surpassed the 3,000-employee mark." Other key expenses include services, including cleaning and catering, which increased primarily due to contractual adjustments. "Added to this," the CEO recalls, "is a natural increase in asset purchases linked to the expansion of the company's activities, which went from €54 million to €69 million. All this demonstrates how, in the case of the Sassari Local Health Authority, the increase in budget volumes translates into a real increase in production and activities in our regions."

The meeting will not only focus on the budget, but also on future planning, which, according to Spano, must include investments both in the community and in hospitals. "Approaching a new community healthcare system," Spano stated, "must not lead us to abandon the hospital system, which remains essential, because until now it has ensured our survival from the impact of a healthcare system that is no longer able to meet the population's health needs, because it is based on decisions made 25 years ago when the demographic situation was completely different."

Community Houses also deserve a space for reflection, as management is working on them, but doesn't want to make "top-down" decisions. "We will visit the local communities and propose a model, awaiting your counterproposals, because you, the mayors, know your population and their needs intimately. Only in this way will we be able to develop together the best models to implement and meet the needs of the population," Spano concluded.
