Orgosolo: murals, memories, and nature. From October 1st to 4th, the Municipality of Orgosolo was included in the trips offered by the Sardinia Pilgrimage Destinations Foundation with "We walk in Sardinia," organized by the Regional Department of Tourism, with the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism, and in collaboration with Terre di Mezzo and Fa' la cosa giusta. An invitation to slow down, listen, and share.
The walkers (a group of guides, video makers, influencers, and journalists) discovered the wild charm of the Supramonte, its archaeological sites, the welcoming atmosphere of the town and its murals, its silk, and the places of Blessed Antonia Mesina. All this before concluding their journey in Pula. Ample space was given to the history of the town and its Blessed, its traditions, its churches, and trekking along shepherds' paths, among centuries-old holm oaks, wild and semi-wild animals, and the domus de janas.
"With these trails, we want to highlight the Supramonte and the town as an authentic meeting place for nature, culture, and tradition," says Gian Nicola Taras, the city's Tourism Councilor. "Each trail is an invitation to discover the profound connection between our territory, its history, and the community that preserves it." The itinerary began with the murals, with a tour of the town led by Camineras experts. The scenes and colors of these works encapsulate the town's history and memories, a symbol of the identity and tenacity of a community that has always considered its idea of unity and cooperation inseparable and, therefore, still alive today.
This aspect was emphasized and highlighted several times during the journey. The walkers, after a visit to discover the precious silk and its silkworm, followed the path of the Blessed Virgin, particularly as a bearer of a message of strength and women's emancipation in a unique historical period like the early 20th century, on an island like Sardinia; but also of religiosity and attachment to tradition. Following in her footsteps and those of the shepherds, they then discovered the landscapes, starting from the upper part of the village and reaching the mountaintop, among semi-wild animals, nuraghi, and the domus de janas of Sirilò.
The Destinazioni di Pellegrinaggio Foundation, chaired by the mayor of Galtellì, Franco Solinas, expressed their satisfaction with the initiative, which placed particular emphasis on the Cammino dei Blessed. "This project represents the deepest soul of Sardinia, where faith, nature, and culture intertwine to tell the story of our communities," said Solinas. "Walking these paths means rediscovering ourselves and our unique connection to our land. I thank all those who shared this journey with us and who, with passion and dedication, continue to promote the authenticity of our island." The final stage was held in Pula for the meeting of the delegations of the Camminos and Destinations involved in the Noi Camminiamo in Sardegna event.
