An invitation to peace and Franciscan values, which could only find its ideal home in front of the papal Basilica of San Francesco, in Assisi . They are the one hundred and forty bronze olives by the Sardinian artist Giuseppe Carta , a sculptural installation inaugurated on the occasion of Palm Sunday.

A special thanks to the author came from the mayor of Assisi, Stefania Proietti, for having «strongly believed in this artistic message of peace, of hope, of custody of Creation launched through the olive tree, a gift of nature. From this holy place we want to say peace, peace, peace to all men. We hope that hope becomes concrete like the works of Giuseppe Carta that speak to everyone ».

Carta's dream came true: «I called it Germination of Peace , and it was born precisely to be installed here, but they told me it was impossible: Father Marco Moroni instead said that I could have made it happen on this lawn and this made me filled my heart with joy ".

The exhibition was studied with the support of the architect Alberto Bartalini: next to a larger mother olive, three other olives in the square of the Basilica. The others, arranged on the lawn with an olive branch.
