Bianca Ballabio had moved from Lombardy to the University of Sassari, and after completing all her first-year exams in her medical degree at the University of Sassari, she was looking forward to a carefree summer. She was 20 years old. A car accident took her away from her parents, Michela Bonzi and Massimo Ballabio. Two people of great strength who created the "Ballabio Foundation" in honor of their only daughter, to perpetuate her memory and help other promising students like her.

On Tuesday, Rector Gavino Mariotti and the entire University of Sassari will remember Bianca Ballabio. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the Aula Magna will host an event in memory of the brilliant student.

This year, the Foundation, with the support of the Rotary Club "Busto, Gallarate and Legnano Malpensa" chaired by Roberto Antonelli, will award a scholarship to a future doctor enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Sassari. For the 2024/2025 academic year, the call for applications was for a merit-based selection of a sixth-year student. The candidate's name will be announced during the event.

Also attending the ceremony will be Angela Spanu, Director of the Department of Medicine, Surgery, and Pharmacy; Pietro Pulina, Vice Rector for Teaching at Uniss; Pier Paolo Terragni, President of the Degree Program in Medicine and Surgery; and Carlotta Accolla, Student of the Degree Program in Medicine and Surgery. The University will present Bianca's parents with a certificate and a plaque engraved with the seal of the University of Sassari.
