"It is not enough to announce a competition and win it, as in the case of the oncologist surgeon Tuveri. It is necessary to provide him with an efficient organizational structure, space in which to operate and at least a team of four doctors for the operating room. Deprived of all instruments, the surgeon Tuveri, for a year, limited himself to visiting oncology patients, without any planning and forced to deprive the sick of any prospect". Claudia Zuncheddu of Rete Sarda per la Difesa della Sanità Pubblica denounced this in a press release.
"The revocation of the position of head physician and the dismissal, paradoxically for not having achieved the objective, is in the hands of the judiciary. But his reinstatement is not enough without serious hospital planning, without the awareness that the dismantling of the only Sardinian oncology hospital, the Businco, with the transfer of efficient and well-organized departments, such as Thoracic Surgery, implies the implosion of the Brotzu". For Claudia Zuncheddu "politics remains responsible for the failure to achieve the objective by the oncology surgeon, condemned to be head physician of himself, but not only. Politics will have to justify the reasons why the winner of the competition and with a salary rightly as a head physician, was sent to Verona to operate and at the expense of the Region. With what title can a head physician of a Sardinian hospital be forced to cross the sea, to operate in other regions? At what cost to the health budget of our Autonomous Region? This is the deprecated differentiated autonomy that Sardinian politics has been practicing for some time in healthcare."
"Our health care", adds Claudia Zuncheddu, "cannot be mortified by the power games and power relations that are played out on the benches of a policy that is increasingly alien to the needs of the sick and health personnel. The Sardinian Network hopes that those who govern Sardinia take to heart the disastrous drift of our public health care".
