For decades, starting from their Desulo, they have been custodians of the ancient tradition of transhumance, which they have handed down from generation to generation.

And like every year, this morning, the brothers Giannetto, Antonello, Massimo and Tore Locci transferred 400 sheep from their farm in Laconi to the Gennargentu mountains .

Their very young grandchildren also followed them: Salvatore, Nicolò, Sebastiano, Antonio and Nicola.

Not least the contribution of several fellow villagers who flocked to the relay service, including the former mayor of the town Gigi Littarru.

They left the sheepfold at “Istunu” at 3.30 and are currently on their way to the farm in their hometown, which they will reach in the late evening.

Once in Ortuabis at 6.30 they continued following the SS 295, passing through the pass of Sa Casa and that of Cossatzu. And from there the march is proceeding along the so-called "Cossatzu-Tascusì", the highest road on the island .

The environmental scenario is unique, among breathtaking landscapes in the "green sea" of the island. Also present for the occasion was the director Pietro Mereu , active in the documentary Sonaggios, soon to be released on the international market.
