A Sardinian wine will open Vinitaly with cheers in Piazza dei Signori, in Verona. It is the Akènta Sub of the Santa Maria La Palma winery, aged in the depths of the sea of Alghero and the Porto Conte Park, selected as the Official Wine of Vinitaly and The City, the event that kicks off the international event.

It is the first time that a wine from Sardinia has been selected for this prestigious occasion, just as the choice of a bottle aged below sea level is also unprecedented.

On Thursday 31 March Akènta Sub will re-emerge from the depths on the occasion of the inaugural toast of Vinitaly and the City, at the Loggia di Fra Giocondo in Piazza dei Signori, from 6 pm, making this Sardinian wine the star of the important event.

«We are proud of this result, it is a reward for the commitment of all the members who work every day, representing an entire territory», they underline from the Santa Maria La Palma winery, one of the largest and most important wineries in Sardinia, with 800 hectares grown and a production of over 5 million bottles. « We believe that Akènta Sub represents several precious elements in a single product: creativity, the high quality of Sardinian products and the exceptional environment that this island possesses. All elements that we are committed to enhancing, day after day».
