As predicted by meteorologists, the snow has returned to the Barbagia mountains in these hours.

At the moment there are no inconveniences along the roads, the carriageways are passable, the charm of the whitewashed landscape remains.

Siniscola is one of the most affected centres , 40 meters above sea level. "I'm 60 years old and only once do I remember seeing snow in the town - said the mayor Gian Luigi Farris - It snowed for half an hour maybe three quarters of an hour and the white mantle, until the temperature was around zero, it was quite high. Then it melted with the arrival of the day but we can say this year that we too have had the privilege of seeing the snow as we are almost at sea level».

But Sardinia could be involved, at least in its eastern part, by a Mediterranean hurricane that will hit Sicily in particular.

Storm winds, torrential rains and snowfalls that experts define as "historic" are expected.

As Andrea Garbinato of www.iLMeteo.it explains, «it is a cyclone rising from Tunisia with a "warm heart" , as they say in meteorological jargon, that is, with a higher temperature in the center of the vortex than in the external areas. Normally an extratropical cyclone presents an opposite picture, therefore having a warm heart means a greater intensification of winds and precipitation phenomena: in other words, snow storms are on the way.
