There was also a little bit of Sardinia at the Night of the Oscars. In Hollywood, the trailer of The Little Mermaid (Litte Mermeid), the new Disney colossal, was broadcast for the first time, in theaters from May 26th. And there are many scenes – also revisited on the computer – that the gigantic American production shot in Sardinia. Including that, made famous by the great cartoon classic, of the first meeting between Prince Eric and Ariel, with its melodious song.

The coasts of Santa Teresa di Gallura, Aglientu, Castelsardo and Golfo Aranci had formed the island set.

The clapperboards in Sardinia date back to June 2021. A presence that did not go unnoticed, that of Halle Bailey (leading actress) and all the rest of the international cast. It could not be otherwise under normal conditions. And it wasn't, even more so, because it was the summer of the new advance of the virus on the island. And a Covid outbreak broke out in the troupe which at the time aroused particular alarm.

Those controversies are now just a distant memory. The Little Mermaid returns to the big screen. And the beauty of the Sardinian sea will make its small contribution.
