The booty resulting from the assault on the armored car that took place two days ago on the 131 near the junction for Giave amounts to over one million euros .

There were at least six bandits, they wore camouflage overalls, their faces were hidden by balaclavas and they were armed with machine guns. They fired at the armored vehicle, also wounding three people : two vigilantes and a woman.

The money that the Vigilpol van was carrying was partly intended for the payment of pensions at the Nuoro post office.

These are the elements collected so far as the manhunt continues to identify the criminals.

The plan had been organized in detail, whoever took action - the investigators think - did not improvise anything.

The gang slowed down the van by spreading nails on the asphalt, setting two cars on fire, then ordered the guards " not to be heroes ", and concentrated on the money.

The "spumablock", the device used to indelibly stain the banknotes, went into operation regularly but the foam did not have time to solidify, because the bandits were very fast even if they were unable to completely empty the safe.

They shot to cover their escape and injured the two vigilantes and a 30-year-old from Ozieri who was on the road to work .

The investigation is coordinated by the Sassari prosecutor's office, the carabinieri are continuing the investigation.
