The reorganization of the single reservation centers (CUP) in Sardinia is underway. Among the new features are automated and manual recall systems to manage cancellations and reduce no-shows (unannounced failures to show up for appointments), active lists to optimize availability and allow automatic recalls of users in the event of cancellations, and targeted communication campaigns.
An initial pilot phase has already begun at the Medio Campidano Local Health Authority (ASL) with the aim of optimizing waiting times and improving access to healthcare services. The Regional Government has now mandated all regional healthcare agencies to implement the guidelines and provisions contained in the operational project by the end of this year.
"With this project, we are making the entire healthcare booking system in Sardinia more efficient and transparent," explains Councilor Armando Bartolazzi . "The goal is to reduce wait times, limit no-shows , and guarantee citizens a more equitable and modern service, based on digital and coordinated management at the regional level." The operational project was born from a previous resolution dated June 5th which, pending the tender for the CUP services, had approved the guidelines and provided operational directions to the healthcare companies, while also instructing the Regional Health Authority (Ares) and the in-house information technology company, Sardegna IT, to prepare an executive project, under the coordination of Luigi Minerba, the Single Head of Healthcare (Ruas).
"Anyone who has ever needed to book a visit or test knows how important it is to be able to count on an efficient, transparent, and easy-to-use system," said Governor Alessandra Todde . "This is where our project to reorganize the regional Single Booking Center (CUP) begins: a concrete intervention to reduce waiting times and improve citizens' access to healthcare services ."
"This intervention," Todde concludes, "represents a stepping stone in the overall reorganization of Sardinia's healthcare system. We know there's still much to do, but we will continue to work with healthcare providers to make the system more efficient and restore trust in the public service."
