The date of the appointment is that of 8 July. The location, however, at least for the moment, is still secret. Cagliari like the great European metropolises, which looks to a different type of tourism, but above all which dreams of a city in the hands of its citizens. In fact, the "Cena in Bianco" event was born with these objectives, a format launched in 2012 from an idea by Antonella D'Affitto in Turin with the Unconventional Dinner brand and now present in various cities, not only in Italy.

The initiative is simple and fascinating. It is a convivial dinner, open to all, where people contribute personally with the entire organizational phase.

"The organization of dinner in Cagliari has been our passion for some years, but Covid and various organizational problems have prevented the dream from coming true," said Angelo Bianchi, new president of the Pro Loco of Cagliari. «This year, thanks to the willingness of the municipal administration of Cagliari and the will of a group of "crazy" people from the Pro Loco of Cagliari, we launched the challenge. The dinner is an event marked by the five E's: Education, Elegance, Ecology, Aesthetics, Ethics. The basic idea is the dinner where "everyone brings something", where something is all that is needed for a dinner: white ceramic crockery, glass bottles, glass or crystal glasses, steel cutlery, tablecloth and napkins in white cloth (paper and plastic are banned) and of course food! Everyone must also organize themselves to bring tables and chairs with them (the only exceptions to the ban on the use of plastic) ».

Few rules, but simple. Of all of them, of course, the one that strictly requires white as the only color allowed, in clothing and on the table, and the one that sees respect for the surrounding environment and people in the foreground. Values that go hand in hand with those of the municipal administration, which, with this event, aims to make citizens the owners of a city that needs to show itself for those characteristics that make it so unique and special.

«With “Cena in Bianco” citizens can regain possession of the spaces of their city», said Paolo Truzzu, mayor of Cagliari, at Palazzo Bacaredda this morning. "The initiative is totally ecological and respects the principles of the environment, because it does not involve the consumption of materials that are also difficult to recycle, in line with the policies that the municipal administration has chosen to share", concluded the mayor.

Cagliari, in fact, is back in the field to compete for the title of European Green Capital 2025 and this event fits perfectly into the ropes of a city that wants to look beyond.
