Partially reduced sentences in the "Dirty Uniforms" trial at the Sassari Court of Appeal, where two State Police officers, already convicted in the first instance, were accused . The panel, presided over by Giovanni Maria Delogu, with Maura Nardin and Salvatore Carboni co-counsel, recently sentenced Gianluca Serra to three years and two months, accused of corruption, embezzlement, and false ideology, and Marco Fenu to two years and eight months, accused of corruption and embezzlement , both for incidents that allegedly occurred in Sassari between 2013 and 2015.
The charges include stealing €5,000 from a pusher's home in 2014 during a police operation aimed at finding drugs, and attempting to seize heroin from a dealer . The charges were allegedly received from the same person with whom they shared the money and to whom they gave part of the drug. The third defendant, Maurizio Allocca, was charged with guaranteeing the drug deal, and his four-year sentence was upheld .
The panel declared several crimes time-barred, leaving only the embezzlement charge standing for Serra, defended by lawyers Andrea Russo and Cristina Moschini of the Florence Bar Association, while Fenu is assisted by lawyer Carlo Foddai and Allocca by lawyer Marco Palmieri. "We are firmly convinced of Serra's innocence," the first two declared, "and, as soon as we read the reasons, we will appeal to the Court of Cassation. The prosecution's case is completely lacking." In the first instance, the sentence was 5 years and 2 months for Serra, and 4 years and 2 months for Fenu , and on appeal the Attorney General, Marco Nassi, had requested 4 years and 2 months and 3 years and 8 months.
