Goodbye to the ticket validator and its characteristic noise of printing on the ticket. From December 20th, the means of the ATP of Sassari (the public transport company) introduce electronic tickets. The traditional magnetic cards with mechanical validation are being retired in favor of digital validation.

Thanks to the integrated electronic circuit, the new tickets can be validated simply by bringing them close to the digital validators, already installed on all public transport in Sassari and Porto Torres. A green light will confirm that the ticket has been validated, while a red light will indicate whether the ticket has already been used or is no longer valid.

To facilitate the transition, the ATP has set up an initial period during which both validation systems – electronic and traditional – will remain operational. In this way, citizens will be able to continue using the old paper tickets in their possession without difficulty, but no later than the end of February 2025 .

The graphic aspect of the new tickets has also been renewed to improve their recognisability, easily distinguishing the different types of tickets offered by the company. In addition, the traditional carnet of multiple trips will be replaced by a single reusable ticket until the purchased trips run out.
