«Increase the staff of the state police in the Sassari area». The request was sent this afternoon in the Turritan capital to the Undersecretary of the Interior Nicola Molteni, who was visiting the city with the president of the regional council Michele Pais and, in particular, in the historic centre, by the Siulp, Siap and Silp Cgil unions.

«The number of transfers to this province», is the complaint of the social partners, «is always very small. And this year 48 to 60 State Police operators will be retired and there will be no turnover of personnel."

A very critical context for one of the largest provinces in Italy. Plagued by shortcomings at all levels of police personnel, from managers, officials, inspectors and agents.

«We ask», this is the request presented to Molteni, « that in the coming years the same amounts that periodically arrive in the province of Nuoro be sent to this province, considering that the seizure emergency has no longer been present for years».

The unions then propose the establishment of a detached section of the XIII Mobile Department of Cagliari in Sassari, because there are many political-union demonstrations that take place in the area. And also in consideration of the many popular sporting events in the province, from Dinamo basketball to Torres to the rally championship, which involve the police.

"If additional State Police operators are not assigned, it will be increasingly difficult to ensure an optimal level of the delicate service that we continuously offer to citizens."

The undersecretary for his part assured maximum commitment, stating that the government will allocate 100 million for the next ten years with the aim of strengthening the workforce. And as regards the historic centre, Molteni reported, as other priorities, the recovery of properties and the strengthening of video surveillance with deterrence and investigation functions.
