It's the night of the newsstands , the evening in which the owners will decorate their shops to make their vitality felt in a moment of difficulty in the sector. Difficulties which for Antonio Durzu, owner of the historic newsstand in via Roma - in Cagliari , have become unbelievably worse since May.

His kiosk, in fact, was destroyed by the collapse of a branch of a gigantic centuries-old tree , and for months the owner has been forced to sell newspapers from his car : he loads the newspapers and magazines into the trunk, opens the rear door and starts the working day. But he will participate in the national demonstration .

«I won't be able to decorate my shop», he explains, «but I stand in solidarity with the whole movement and with my colleagues. A fight that concerns trade union issues, the modification of the premium in consideration of the fact that newspapers sell less. But I also join to defend the history of newsstands", he adds. «During the Covid periods we were always open and were considered a fundamental point of reference for the dissemination of information and for people. Now many newsstands are closing. We can't allow it ."

In the meantime, Durzu waits: shortly, the Municipality assures, he will be able to have his newsstand back, which will be located a few meters from the old one. It will still be central, but at a safe distance from that tree which, unfortunately, continues to represent a potential danger.
