The naming of the new educational building after the President Emeritus of the Republic Antonio Segni has several motivations as recalled this morning at the inauguration. First of all, the great work done with the Agrarian reform when he was Undersecretary and Minister of Agriculture and in the continuation of his long political career. Then it was Antonio Segni himself, former rector of the University of Sassari, who laid the first stone of the current building of the Faculty of Agriculture in 1963.
The "Segni" building is composed of two floors plus two underground with 50 parking spaces, 4 classrooms for a total of 270 seats equipped with wi-fi and power supply, two student classrooms with 30 seats, a 330-seat assembly hall for a total of 4,500 square meters. Great attention has been paid to energy saving. The air conditioning system uses a geothermal system for exchanging heat with the ground beneath the building. The lighting of the rooms is entirely made with LED lights and automatic switch-off systems using sensors.
The inauguration ceremony of the new building of the Department of Agriculture of the University of Sassari was well attended. Also present were his son Mariotto Segni, in addition to the archbishop Mons. Gianfranco Saba, the Rector Gavino Mariotti, the director of the Department Ignazio Flori, the Mayor of Sassari Giuseppe Mascia and the Prefect Grazia La Fauci who cut the ribbon.
