The solution to the conflict between the Government and the Region over the regasification terminal in southern Sardinia is approaching: the Prime Ministerial Decree provides for it in Portovesme, but Viale Trento has challenged the provision before the Council of State.
«There could be an agreement to drop the hearing date to November 16th. We should close next week or the week after": this was said by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, in a hearing at the bicameral Insularity commission, responding to a question from Cinquestelle MP Alessandra Todde.
«In the next few days», added the minister, «a roundtable meeting is planned between the Region and the technical structure of the Ministry. Points of convergence have been found. Some definition phases are missing."
The 2020 Prime Ministerial Decree provides for the supply of LNG for Sardinia with barges from Panigaglia (La Spezia) and Livorno, and two regasifiers in Porto Torres and Portovesme. «The Prime Ministerial Decree has been contested by the Region and is being revised», underlined Pichetto Fratin, adding that «for now the only certainty is Porto Torres. I told Snam and the local authority to come to an agreement and tell me where the regasification terminal for the south of the island should be built. We need to create the same energy security conditions in Sardinia as the continent", is the thesis of the Meloni government representative.
The minister also spoke about coal power plants, which should be shut down to combat climate change : «With these energy prices, I didn't feel like closing the Fiume Santo power plant , just as I didn't feel like closing Brindisi and Civitavecchia."
