The metalworkers are not resigned to the decline of the industrial system and still take to the streets, with the national strike scheduled for Monday. «The mobilization», explains the regional secretary of Fiom CGIL Roberto Forresu, «has precisely the sense of relaunching the sector , taking up the challenge of the ecological and digital transition to build new and solid employment, new jobs and new productive activities».

In Sardinia there are more than ten thousand people employed in the sector, ready to ask – in the strike carried out by Fiom Cgil, Fim Cisl and Uilm Uil – for a future with fewer uncertainties: «We ask for a change of course», adds Forresu, «compared to the 'absence of industrial policy which is bringing Sardinia's production and employment system to collapse'.

Many companies involved in the mobilization, including Saipem in Ogliastra, Beakaert in Macchiareddu, the CRS4 research center in Pula and Sider Alloys in Porto Vesme: a representation of the workers will travel to Cagliari, for a garrison in front of the headquarters of the 'regional Department of Industry and ask for the revitalization of the sector, even more so in the current transition phase.
«We ask», concludes secretary Forresu, «interventions which are essential to build, together with the workers who are its backbone, the industry of tomorrow, aware that in order to trace its profile it is urgent to make the right choices now ».
