News arriving for the citizens of Barigadu left without medical assistance after the last doctor who guaranteed the opening of a clinic in the area retired two weeks ago.

The mayors were in fact received in Cagliari by the health councilor Doria . Meeting during which solutions to be proposed in the very short term were outlined to deal with a real emergency situation .

"Our impression was positive, we must work together to guarantee answers to our citizens", comments the mayor of Busachi Giovanni Orrù who has repeatedly raised the serious problem that unites the citizens of Barigadu in recent months. Then Orrù continues: «The councilor has explained his intervention plan to us. From January, the doctors who had been hired for the Usca will be included in the territory; assisted by a community nurse, they will provide service in the area, guaranteeing coverage within a 10 km radius. Now the offices will have to be identified».

Another problem was linked to the fact that, lacking a general practitioner, many citizens in this period found themselves forced to buy medicines out of their own pockets . Orrù then continues: «The commissioner explained that this service will be guaranteed with an ASL delivery boy who, twice a week, will collect the requests for medicines in the individual Municipalities which, in a sealed envelope, citizens will deliver. He will then return carrying the compiled recipes. Furthermore, the commissioner has undertaken to urge the national government to review the rules: today, for example, retired doctors cannot make prescriptions as we had asked. Another thing he highlighted to us, first emphasizing the fact that 1500 doctors are missing in Sardinia, is that the next recruitment calls will be made at a European level ».

Now we move on to the operational phase.
