The Madonna dei Martiri embraces the victims of Fonni: the sand work in Platamona
Artist Nicola Urru creates a sculpture for the young people killed in the road accident: «I decided to transform pain into art»It is a Sardinia that embraces the community of Fonni, still shaken by the tragedy of the SP 69 with the death of the very young Michele Coinu, Lorenzo Figus, Marco Innocenti and Michele Soddu.
And now again in shock for the tragic death of the entrepreneur Mauro Falconi, victim of a motorbike accident yesterday in San Teodoro.
To the poetic and musical memories in memory of the 4 young people, is added the homage of the artist from Nuoro Nicola Urru who on the beach of Platamona wanted to dedicate a sand sculpture to the boys.
For the work, created today, the embrace of the Madonna dei Martiri to her four young children, while holding Baby Jesus in her arms.
"It's a tragedy that affects us all," says Urru, "and in my case it shook me doubly given the bond that unites me to the Fonnese community. My brother-in-law is married to Lorenzo Figus' aunt, whom I have known since I was very young. His death, along with that of his friends, devastated me."
Urru adds: «Taking advantage of the good weather and the day off from work, I decided to transform pain into art. Reflecting on the faith that binds the people of Fonni to the Madonna dei Martiri . I like to think that she welcomed Michele, Lorenzo, Marco and Michele in a big hug and now they are watching us from up there».
But Urru's thoughts also go to the boys' families: "I embrace them all and I send them my thoughts of closeness in this sad moment. I hope that the warmth of all of Sardinia can help them bear this immense pain."
