It has a total area of about 2450 square meters which makes it the largest and most modern intensive care and resuscitation ward currently present in Sardinia .

This is the Ti30 , the intensive therapy located on the ground floor of the first white block in viale San Pietro in Sassari . The works to complete the main rooms and ancillary rooms were completed in the last few days. And tomorrow the visit of the Undersecretary of Health Pierpaolo Sileri is expected, at the end of the conference "The health system after the Covid pandemic: the perspectives of the PNRR" organized by the University of Sassari (11 am) in the main hall of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

THE WORKS - It will take about ten days for it to come into operation: in fact, the completion of the accreditation request process is expected.

The previous Ti30, which in the second phase of the pandemic had been built in record time within a month (work began on 7 December 2020 and ended on 6 January 2021), was initially built provisionally to give a immediate response to the needs dictated by the Covid emergency. A second phase of work had already been planned by then, to be carried out as soon as the pandemic had given the hospital some respite. The works were necessary for its completion and to make it a state-of-the-art facility, compliant with the highest safety and quality standards required by current health regulations.

And so now, the structure in its final conformation, "credible" by the regional health system, is completed. It has 23 ordinary beds, to which a further 7 "emergency" beds can be added, which can be activated in case of need.

THE PROJECT - The conclusion of these works is part of a wider technological modernization project of the University hospital of Sassari. Many other works have been started and concluded over the last two years, characterized by the Covid-19 pandemic, including: the new Oncology Day Hospital , the accreditation of the new operating theaters of the Santissima Annunziata, the modernization of the Urology department of the Clinics di San Pietro , creation and accreditation of the new sector rooms.

In a few days the new Orthopedics and Traumatology department will also be activated, which, together with the start of robotic orthopedic and multi-specialist surgery (urology, ENT, general surgery, gynecology, etc.) which took place in January, could become an additional strength for better health.

The general director Antonio Lorenzo Spano, the medical director Francesco Bandiera, the administrative director Rosa Bellu and the director of Reanimation 1 Professor Pierpaolo Terragni will participate in the visit tomorrow. The rector of the University of Sassari Gavino Mariotti will also participate in the inspection.

THE STRUCTURE IN FIGURES - The modern intensive therapy Ti30 with a total area of approximately 2450 square meters, divided as follows: approximately 1500 square meters on the ground floor and additional storage spaces for another 200 square meters on the first floor below. Added to these is the new staircase serving the three floors of the second white batten (additional 750sqm).

The total cost of construction, excluding biomedical equipment and furnishings, is approximately 2,748,000 euros (1.5 million euros amount of the first loan for the construction of the Ti30 in the first phase; 1,248,000 amount of the intervention of the second phase), which added to the approximately 1,350,000 euros (funded by the University of Sassari) and spent before the bankruptcy of the first contractor, bring the total cost to approximately 4,100,000 euros.

The interventions carried out in the three contracts also involved building works and ancillary systems, such as the expansion and completion of escape routes, stairways, and parts of the thermo-hydraulic power plants serving the same Reanimation.

GREEN AREA - The Sassari Aou has also created a green area in the portion of the internal area of the white slats, adjacent to the Ti30 and the clinics. In this way, an area previously neglected has been recovered and enhanced, which can also be enjoyed by operators and users, with a view to greater humanization of care and improvement of the environments for the staff.
