Sardinia is still burning. 14 fires broke out today in different areas of the island, 8 of which required the urgent intervention of the regional and national fleet of aircraft. A day of high tension for the Forestry Corps, volunteers and the teams of the Forestas Agency, engaged in an exhausting race against the fire.

In Arbus, in the Genna Lada area, the flames licked pastures and Mediterranean scrub, but the coordinated intervention of the helicopter departing from Villasalto, together with ground teams from Guspini and local volunteers, allowed the fire to be put out by 12:20.

In Funtana e' Figu, in the territory of Ardara, a fire that broke out in the morning was quickly contained thanks to the air support of the CFVA of Anela. The intervention of the Forestry Corps of Ozieri was decisive, preventing the fire from spreading towards more sensitive areas. But a new alarm broke out in the afternoon in the S'Aspru area: a large fire exploded in a wooded area and the flames are still active. The emergency machine moved quickly: four regional helicopters and two Canadairs, requested from Rome, are operating to contain the front. The area remains critical.

While in Ozieri, in the locality of C. Arca , woods and pastures are burning. Two helicopters flying from Anela and Alà dei Sardi, volunteers and forestry personnel fought the flames until 12:22. The fire was contained before it reached larger areas.

Cea, in the territory of Ballao is, instead, one of the most critical fronts: the flames are still active and fueled by the wind . Three regional helicopters and numerous teams on the ground are in action. The operations, coordinated by the stations of Escalaplano and San Nicolò Gerrei, continue without stopping.

In Ottana, in a wooded area of Su Ponti, the fire threatened a large stretch of vegetation. The air intervention from Farcana and the teams from Bolotana put out the fire at 2:32 pm, limiting the environmental damage.

In Sanluri, around Nuraghe Pusceddu, the flames were under control by 4:00 PM thanks to a helicopter that took off from Pula and the staff of the local Forestry Station. The fire threatened a historically sensitive area for a few hours.

While in Pattada, the flames hit in the late afternoon. A helicopter from Anela is still in action while the teams on the ground continue to fight the fire.

Authorities are monitoring active outbreaks, with the alert remaining high. High temperatures, drought and wind are creating ideal conditions for new ignitions.
