In Badu 'e Carros there are "at least 60" prison officers missing.

And that's not the only problem that emerged from the inspection by the deputies of the Chamber Justice Commission in the Nuoro prison, more than a month after the sensational escape of the Apulian boss Marco Raduano .

«There are many problems that have emerged, starting with the lack of personnel. We need to bring them to the attention of Parliament and the Ministry of Justice so that solutions can be found as soon as possible», said the president of the commission Pietro Pittalis during the meeting in the Prefecture in Nuoro following the visit.

" At least 60 agents are missing and there are also health problems that require discussion with the competent regional councillorship", added Pittalis, then moving on to the "critical issues concerning the prisoners and the overcrowding of the cells".

«An emergency – added Barbara Polo (FdI) – which drags on after years of impoverishment of resources inside the penitentiary. The budget envisages the recruitment of 1,117 agents, but it is clear that they are not enough for the whole peninsula».

During the meeting with the parliamentarians, the trade unionists strongly urged solutions: "The recruitment of personnel is urgently needed, the current agents are 140, we must reach at least 200 to cover the needs of a prison that houses 224 prisoners, some of whom under the 41bis regime », explained Giovanni Villa, secretary of the Fns Cisl.

Another urgent thing is « the arrangement of the boundary wall and the conclusion of the new prison section for which 8 million euros have been allocated. Anti-climbing systems must be introduced as soon as possible and colleagues must be relieved of the surveillance and care of psychiatric prisoners, to be managed instead in adequate structures".
