In 2022, Sardinia's health mobility shows a negative balance of 96.3 million euros, which places it among the regions with moderately negative data. The journeys of hope continue for Sardinian patients who "emigrate" especially to northern Italy for treatment.

According to the data processed by the Gimbe Foundation for the year 2022, which also confirm the worsening of the imbalance between North and South, with an enormous flow of patients and economic resources leaving the South towards Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto, which are confirmed as the most attractive Regions , the Island shows a percentage value of health mobility provided by accredited private facilities (ordinary hospitalizations and day hospital and specialist outpatient) that stands at 22.8%.

"The gap between North and South is no longer just a critical issue, but a structural fracture in the National Health Service," warns Nino Cartabellotta, president of the Gimbe Foundation, "which risks worsening with the recent approval of the law on differentiated autonomy. A reform that, without adequate corrective measures, will end up crystallizing and legitimizing inequalities, transforming the right to health care into a privilege tied to the postal code of residence."
