The extreme heat wave that has hit Sardinia since last week continues unabated.

This afternoon, the regional Civil Protection Department issued a new adverse weather warning due to high temperatures, valid from 8:00 PM today until the same time on Wednesday, July 22, extending the current state of alert.

Temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius are expected in the central and southern parts of the island, with highs generally above 40 degrees. Tropical nights are also expected, with lows above 25 degrees.

The risk of fires remains high: the Civil Protection bulletin indicates an orange code for the entire day tomorrow, Tuesday, July 21st.
