The first urological interventions took place this morning, March 13, in the week surgery of the San Camillo hospital in Sorgono, with the team directed by Stefano Mallocci, head of urology at San Francesco in Nuoro.
Three operations were performed with the teamwork of specialists Marco Esposito, Sonia Marra, the anesthetist Tania Favini alongside Mallocci. With the support of the nursing staff coordinated by Paolo Arru.
"We are satisfied with this expected result", comments Mallocci, "it is a structural phase that will materialize on a weekly basis. The goal remains to relaunch San Camillo, making it a reference for short-term surgery".
Mallocci adds: «The urological service in Sorgono will help to reduce the waiting lists in Nuoro, focusing on benign pathologies and the discharge of patients on the same day or the day after the operation».
Also drawing a positive balance is Roberto Chessa, a twenty-seven-year-old from Macomer, among the first patients to inaugurate the service: «I appreciated the professionalism of the healthcare staff, but also the speed with which we arrived at the intervention, after the booking. I wish Sorgono a rebirth starting from a department, which is proving to be a beacon even for those who come from beyond the territory as in my case».
For the general director of the ASL, Paolo Cannas, «a new course is opening to demonstrate the strategic importance that Sorgono has. The professionals are excellent and motivated to give their best».
