Sports and health at the Lazzaretto in Cagliari, where the first edition of the Longevity Run in Sardinia will be held on Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th . This will include a fun and physical activity walk, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday, covering a 4-kilometer course, as well as a conference entitled "Prevention and Longevity: From Health to Practice" (Saturday from 8:30 a.m.) and a series of free check-ups on eight different risk factors, which will be conducted (also on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in ten gazebos set up in the square and led by twelve doctors from the Gemelli Polyclinic.

The Cagliari leg of the project, an initiative organized in collaboration with the Gemelli Hospital and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, under the patronage of Sport and Health , was presented this morning at City Hall. "We're confident that residents will respond to the conference, especially the check-up and then the meeting for the walk on Sunday morning," said City Councilor for Sport Giuseppe Macciotta. "When this idea was born, we responded with great enthusiasm. We hope there will be a great response from the public: even those who aren't participating in the walk will be able to participate in the conference and check-ups."

The Longevity Run promotes health, cardiovascular prevention, and active aging. It's a stop on a traveling tour that visits various locations throughout Italy. "Cagliari demonstrates even greater awareness of how to approach sport as a preventive measure: studies show it ensures a longer and better-quality life," recalls Councilor Michele Boero, president of the Permanent Council Sports Committee. "It's a way to communicate two fundamental pillars of longevity: a healthy lifestyle and prevention. We thank the City of Cagliari for bringing the initiative to Sardinia," added Francesco Landi, director of the Department of Aging, Orthopedic, and Rheumatic Sciences at the Gemelli Polyclinic.
