The sixth commission on health and social policies of the council of local autonomies, chaired by Mariano Cogotti , met Mario Antonio Mundula, president of the homologous commission in the regional council, in the Piazza Palazzo headquarters in Cagliari.

«Sardinia is made up of very small, medium and large municipalities but territorial medicine does not work - underlined the president of Cal, Paola Secci - it is incredible that many citizens do not know their general practitioner. The whole system needs to be reviewed, we are fighting to change the national law and to make the best use of trainees starting from the first year, as happened during Covid".

Among the historical problems is the limited number of the Faculty of Medicine which has not allowed the turnover.

But it is also "necessary to strengthen territorial medicine in terms of prevention - Cogotti proposed - to merge the structures by eliminating duplicate departments and also to think about the numerous veterinary emergencies, including the fight against stray dogs".

«Covid has made us understand that territorial health care is non-existent in our country - underlined the president of the council commission Mundula - we have become accustomed to poor efficiency. Proximity healthcare must act as a filter and prevent the white or green code from turning red. «We are discussing with the commissioner Doria - anticipated the president of the sixth commission - to affix a constraint to the doctors who are the winners of the competition. Anyone who does not agree to carry out the mandate in a certain place will slide to the bottom of the rankings as happens for teachers ».

The commissioner will soon be summoned by the Cal for further information.
