The carcass of a large tuna was found in the Baia delle Ninfe, within the protected marine area of Capo Caccia-Isola Piana.
It is a specimen of Thunnus Thynnus (2.80 meters long and weighing 200 kg) which was noticed by a tour operator who has his business on the coast, who immediately notified the coast guard.
On site, to proceed with the analysis of what was found and above all for the collection of biometric data, the personnel of the marine area intervened. It is probable that the causes of death can be attributed to the tuna's desperate struggle to free itself from a longline or line.
With the authorization of the Asl of Sassari, the tuna carcass was scuttled off the coast beyond Capo Caccia.
