The monitoring map of Sardinia's water basins is in "alert" and "danger" mode: the stock in the dams is at 55% of capacity. The most worrying situation is in Ogliastra, Sulcis and the central-northern part of the island with the exception of Gallura, served by the Liscia, and the portion of Nuorese bathed by the Cedrino. For the rest, from the Oristano area to the southernmost area of Campidano, things are a little better but the guard remains high.

«The fields are being irrigated like in summer», says Gavino Zirattu, president of Anbi-Sardinia which brings together all the reclamation bodies. However, he professes confidence because, "despite the continuing drought, the irrigation season is completing normally."

The highest criticality could be reached in November. Therefore, Zirattu spreads his arms, "let's hope the rains come, otherwise it will be really hard."
