The Carabinieri of the Ecological Operational Unit of Cagliari, together with those of the Noe of Florence and Brescia, carried out a precautionary measure in Villagrande Strisaili with which the investigating judge of the Court of Cagliari, at the request of the Dda, ordered the preventive seizure of land used for the illegal disposal of special textile waste from the Prato area, three vehicles and 38 thousand euros.
Nine suspects, for various reasons, for activities organized for the illicit trafficking of waste in competition and illicit waste management.
The investigations began in the second half of 2018, when over 130 tons of textile waste collected in bales were found. With subsequent investigations, the military managed to trace the origin and rebuild the organization that illegally managed waste material on the island.
Part of the waste was also transferred aboard trucks to a shed in the Macchiareddu di Uta industrial area and to a private area not far away or to a shed in Villagrande Strisaili, and buried in a countryside area owned by the municipality.
The company from which the waste came had entrusted its management to a company with its registered office in Cagliari; the documentation thanks to which they managed to make the long journey attested that they were goods and not waste.
