This year, airlines operating under territorial continuity are once again delivering a Christmas package to Sardinians: tickets are hard to find and prices are skyrocketing. Like every December, despite agreements with the Region, additional flights are lacking, and returning to the island is nearly impossible.

The first few critical days will affect residents wanting to leave: many routes from Cagliari, Olbia, and Alghero are already sold out. Between December 19th and 23rd, the blockade will primarily affect commuters and emigrants, with zero availability on Aeroitalia's Linate-Cagliari route.

Unions and workers are denouncing Sardinia's chronic mobility crisis and calling for immediate action. Tourists will also face high costs to reach the island during the holidays. Meanwhile, the new tender for flight continuity is being delayed and uncertain. The UIL (Italian Union of Labour) fears delays that would further exacerbate the situation. The CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labour) is insisting on a "secure" tender that requires airlines to guarantee sufficient seats, modern aircraft, and fair fares.
