Giovanni Battista Manis, the 52-year-old from Terralba accused of the voluntary homicide of Claudio Manca, the 49-year-old found dead last Friday in a canal, a few steps away from his damaged bike, remains in prison .

After the validation hearing, in which Manis exercised his right to remain silent , Oristano investigating judge Federica Fulgheri confirmed the arrest for voluntary homicide and ordered the entrepreneur to be held in prison.

The autopsy on the victim's body has been postponed: originally scheduled for today, it will now be held tomorrow because the consultant appointed by prosecutor Marco De Crescenzo requested a CT scan first. This test will determine if there are any signs of a fatal beating .

According to the prosecutor's hypothesis, Manis first ran over Manca while he was riding his bike, then, once he was down, brutally beat him and pushed him into the ditch where his body was found . The bike was nearby, its rear wheel damaged.

The autopsy, which will take place tomorrow in Cagliari, will be attended by a consultant appointed by Manis's lawyers, Antonio Pinna Spada of the Oristano Bar Association, and Ivano Chiesa of the Milan Bar Association, as well as the Olbia coroner Domenico Nuvoli, appointed by Fabio Costa, the lawyer representing the victim's family.

Manis, the owner of several tobacco shops in the area, was also caught in the crossfire after he posted videos on social media accusing Manca (using a nickname) of carrying out an arson attack he had suffered a few days earlier.

A few days before the murder, the businessman had illegally disposed of his electronic bracelet (a circumstance also documented in a video posted on Manis's social media). The device had been applied to him in another proceeding for stalking his daughter's ex-boyfriend .
