A series of scams carried out by a pair of fake Carabinieri ended with an arrest in the town's main square in Nebida. Two young men were stopped by real Carabinieri officers as they attempted to flee after yet another heist : the theft of several pieces of jewelry from a local woman's home.

They were arrested by Carabinieri from the Iglesias branch as part of an operation in collaboration with their colleagues from Domusnovas and Gonnesa. The two are being held responsible for aggravated fraud, conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving stolen goods, and resisting a public officer.

"The operation," a statement reads, "stems from a careful investigative analysis conducted following recent scams carried out in the Iglesiente area using the well-known technique of 'faking a law enforcement officer.'" Through local operations, the Carabinieri were able to locate the car used by the suspects, intercepting it in the hamlet of Nebida. During the arrest, one of the suspects violently resisted, attempting to free himself before being permanently subdued.

A personal search and subsequent inspection of the accommodation where the two were staying led to the recovery of a large quantity of valuables and gold jewelry . Investigations confirmed that part of the stolen goods was linked to two other scams perpetrated in the previous days against two elderly women. The entire haul was seized pending its return to its rightful owners.
