Tear gas and water cannons against anti-militarists: tension at the Decimomannu base
A tough fist by the police to prevent the procession from reaching the fences around the airportThe anti-militarists who took part in the demonstration organized by Sardinnia Aresti, but which was joined by various groups such as A Foras and Cobas, sought the surprise effect.
Leaving Villasor around 3.30 pm and expected at 4.30 pm in front of the gates of the Decimomannu military airport, they chose a country road between the two entrances to the base. Waiting for them, despite the change in route, they found policemen in riot gear who fired tear gas.
The procession barely had time to launch a few slogans and some chants, but then had to fall back towards the Provincial road, heading for the main gate.
Even there, however , a massive deployment of the police definitively blocked the demonstrators, around 300, with water cannons and more tear gas. The procession then resumed the road to Villasor. There don't appear to be any injured people on either side.
