Talana, Elisa Tegas turns 100: the little old lady celebrated by the community
In the village, the centenarians are all women. Also on the podium are Lucia Murru and Gioachina Cabras, peers and lifelong friendsWhen the mayor of Talana, Christian Loddo, was saying goodbye from the living room of the house, Elisa Tegas wished him all the best. In reality, the mayor had gone to visit her to wish her well on an exceptional day, that of the hundred years.
Grandma Elisa wanted to show kindness and affection towards the man in the tricolor sash who brought her the best wishes of the entire population. Widow of Giovanni Tegas for several decades, Grandma Elisa has two daughters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren .
Today, many people crossed the threshold of the house in Vico Alessandro Manzoni, where the new centenarian lives with her unmarried daughter, to participate in the party organized for the occasion.
She spends her days within the home walls, telling anecdotes of her long life during which she took care of her family without ever failing to support her husband in the countryside downstream from the town.
The weight of age is felt, but all in all she is in good condition. Don Evangelista Tolu, the parish priest of the village, also visited her .
In Talana, at this moment in history, longevity is an exclusively female issue: in addition to Elisa Tegas, Lucia Murru and Gioachina Cabras, peers and lifelong friends, are part of the special club. Both born in 1923, they are looking at 102 years.
