"We must use violence": threats against Nizzi, a complaint filed

The Tempio Prosecutor's Office is investigating an incident reported by Pietro Carzedda, attorney for Olbia Mayor Settimo Nizzi. The mayor was subjected to serious threats by an as-yet-unidentified individual in a Facebook post. Carzedda has provided prosecutors with the content of the social media posts.

The mayor of Olbia has been the target of insults and defamatory posts in the past, which have been widely publicized and, in several cases, led to criminal proceedings, some of which resulted in convictions for the crimes alleged by the Tempio Pausania prosecutor's office.

The lawyer for Olbia's mayor released a statement: "As Settimo Nizzi's trusted lawyer, I hereby announce that a formal complaint has been filed against a person in relation to a post published on September 19, 2026, on the social network Facebook, containing highly threatening statements directly addressed to my client."

The expressions used "go beyond, in our opinion, the bounds of legitimate political criticism and require the utmost attention. The complaint has been filed with the competent Public Prosecutor's Office through the Olbia Public Security Commissioner, who will be responsible for assessing the criminal relevance of the facts and any potential liability."
