Swine fever behind. Sardinia is traveling towards the definitive end of the embargo , after eleven years of a halt to exports.
The first, most significant breakthrough came last December 15, with the go-ahead that had in any case preserved some red areas within the island , where the restrictions continued to exist. "The objective", declared the president of the Region, Christian Solinas, "remains that of a Sardinia completely free from restrictions".
And now the total release seems close : at the Brussels summit, in the presence of the Ministry of Health and the director of the Sardinian experimental zooprophylactic institute, Giovanni Filippini, the EU commission opened to the remodulation: it will be submitted to the committee of the member states, which it will meet twice by the end of the year.
