During their daily patrols on Wednesday morning, October 8 , Carabinieri officers from the Asinara station located, identified, and fined two female tourists bathing in the Cala Sant'Andrea marine protected area , where access, transit, and swimming are strictly prohibited, in order to protect biodiversity and the ecosystem . The young tourists also rode their bicycles on the beach, ignoring the posted signs and leaving visible tracks in the sand, spoiling the pristine nature of the area. This activity follows checks conducted in recent weeks by the military personnel on duty at Asinara, under the command of Nando Muzzu, which led to the reporting to the competent authorities of two individuals believed to have unlawfully used a vehicle for the purpose of practicing as tour guides.
Specifically, the Carabinieri discovered, first at Cala d'Oliva and then at the seaside resort of Cala Sabina, that these individuals, using their own vehicle, were illegally providing tourist services in the park, with an exclusive guide on board, without having obtained the necessary permits. This was in clear violation of the authorization issued to the company by the Asinara National Park, in accordance with the Regulations for the use of the vehicle, exclusively for the performance of "logistical support activities" for the accommodation facility managed by the company that broke the rules.
